Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis combines Roman style
architecture on the exterior with Byzantine style inside. It is the meeting of East and West just like
St. Louis. It was designated a Basilica
because of its 8300 square feet of mosaics. The mosaics tell Bible stories and have a more
contemporary feel than those in St. Marks in Venice. A small child with a Raggedy Ann doll
represents the children of the local orphanage.
